Maru Fernandez

Artist dedicated to object theater since 2004, as a performer, playwright, director and teacher, as well as designer and producer of scenic objects. 

Current student of the Technician in Dramaturgy / Faculty of Humanities and Sciences of Education at the University of the Republic (Udelar), he has trained at the Multidisciplinary School of Dramatic Art and  the National Institute of Fine Arts - Udelar, among other educational institutions. 

Workshops and seminars, the following stand out: Retiro Workshop with Sergio Mercurio, BsAs 2014; “Desdobramentos do Corpo- Illusory techniques for fictional autonomy not an animated object”_ Cía. Caixa do Elefante/ Brazil, 2013. UNIMA Scholarship _ TOPIC: Introduction to the world of Philippe Genty with Nancy Rusek and Scot Koehler., “The comings and goings of the creative process” by Claudio Hochman, Spain, 2011.

 

As founder of  Colectivo Coriolis/Teatro de Objects has participated in all of their works: Pasos Largos, Tropo, Veteris and Chanchos, as a performer, playwright, director and designer. Touring with his works through Spain, Canada, Portugal, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.

It has been recognized with the Jury Award for best show and best actress at the 8th Mont Laurier International Theater Festival, Canada, 2017, as a foreign show, World Theater Award, awarded by C.Cultural Rector Ricardo Rojas of the Univ de Bs As , Florencio Award for Best Puppet Show 2014, Javier Villafañe Award, C.C de la Cooperación (BsAs). Young Theater Meeting Award 2007 and Young Humor 2008, Municipality of Montevideo. 

He was a member of important object theater companies in Uruguay, including: La Ovidio Titeres Band del (2004/14) and Pampinak  (2012/13). 

At the same time, he developed several solo profects, one of which stands out: “Osvaldo, what is called an idol.” 

In 2015 and 2017, he organized “Objeto Montevideo”, the First International Puppet Theater Cycle, with the support of Iberescena, with companies from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Spain.

He currently works as a permanent puppet theater workshop at the Urban Cultural Center/DNC_MEC and at the University Welfare Service_ UdelaR, he has offered various workshops at the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP)_Council of Initial and Primary Education, Council of Secondary Education, / project  PROARTE/ Ministry of Education and Culture/ UNESCO/Universidad De La República (UDELAR), among other prestigious institutions in our country and abroad.

GERARDO MARTINEZ

Puppeteer, Director, Teacher and Workshop Specialist, he has been specializing in puppet theater for seventeen years, taking and conducting workshops, researching, rehearsing and producing shows with La Ovidio Titers Band, Pampinak and Coriolis Object Theater.

He took international courses: Dramaturgy for Puppet Theater taught by Javier Swedzky (CELCIT) BsAs, Cía. Libertablas, BsAs; Silvina Reinaudi, BsAs y Cía. Sarruga, Catalonia. 

At the national level: Theatrical Dramaturgy with Jimena Márquez (INAE), Rafael Curci, La Gotera, Girasol and Títeres Cachiporra.  

Founder of Compañía Coriolis, Director and playwright of Tropo, premiered in 2014, winner of the Florencio Award for Best Puppet Show 2014, director of Pasos Largos, a one-man theater for adults premiered in 2016 at the SODRE (Project awarded by Iberescena) and Co-director and performer of Chanchos! in 2017 and Veteris 2021.

Together with Compañía Pampinak by Martin Romanelli  (2011 to 2014), he participated in the Bicentennial celebrations with the Fura del Baus (giant puppet manipulation), in the “Nutcracker” Ballet (Directed by Julio Boca) Ballet del Sodre and with the Catalan Company Sarruga Producciones in the framework of FIDAE3 (Third edition of the International Festival of Performing Arts). It has also performed the July holiday season at the “Solís” theater and has performed in Córdoba (Argentina), Santiago de Chile and  Hong Kong (“Kohi”).

As a member of La Ovidio Titers Band (2004 to 2014) he developed as a puppeteer and assistant director. He participated in more than 9 shows, among the most important are: "Spleen...", "Romeo and Juliet", "Juan Moreira" and "The Four Seasons of Vivaldi". They were presented at: Teatro Solís, Teatro Circular, Teatro El Galpón, Sala Zitarrosa, Sala Verdi, etc.

As a puppet theater workshop, he taught internationally in 2016, “Everything on the table” Object workshop for adults within the framework of a touring project supported by Competitive Funds for Culture (Santa Rosa, Bariloche, Mar del Plata and Buenos Aires).

CECILIA BRUZZONE

Puppeteer, teacher and workshop leader; His artistic career has developed between Uruguay and Venezuela. He has joined important companies from these countries, among which Teatro EOS, Caracas, Venezuela, “La Ovidio Titers Band” and “Coriolis” (currently) stand out. He has also worked independently on numerous projects.

Training courses, nationally and internationally: 2014- UNIMA Scholarship “Desdobramentos do Corpo- Illusory techniques for fictional autonomy not an animated object”_ Cía. Caixa do Elefante/ Brazil.  2014 “Experience not theater of shadows”_ Cia. Teatro Lumbra/ Brazil. 2013- Workshop "The Body and the Object"_  Agnes Limbos and Nicole Mossoux. Lisbon Portugal. 2011_ “The dialectic of the puppeteer on stage.” Rafael Curci, Montevideo.

As founder of  Colectivo Coriolis/Teatro deobjects has participated in their works: Tropo and Chanchos, as a performer and playwright.  Performing in the most important venues in the country: Teatro Solís, Sodre, Teatro El Galpón, Circular, Sala Verdi, among others. Touring with his works through Spain, Canada, Portugal, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. 

In 2015 and 2017 he organized “Objeto Montevideo”, the First International Puppet Theater Cycle, with the support of Iberescena, with companies from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Spain. 

In the company “Teatro EOS” in Caracas, Venezuela (2006/09) she is part of the cast directed by the puppeteer and teacher Dulce Uzcategui, she works as a puppeteer and workshop leader, participating in festivals and numerous projects for puppets and audiovisuals in Venezuela. Among those that stand out is the IV National Meeting of Puppeteers “Javier Villafañe”, Valencia, Venezuela. VII Theater Festival for the neighbors, Cataura, Anzoátegui, Venezuela. He made 2 theatrical shows and 6 audiovisual projects,  received the TIN award for best doll design for the work “The day it rained smiles.”

In the company “La Ovidio Titers Band”, (2004/14) she developed as a puppeteer, they have produced more than 9 shows, among the most important are: "Spleen...", "Romeo y Julieta", "Juan Moreira " and "Vivaldi's Four Seasons." They were presented in the venues: Teatro Solís, Teatro Circular, Teatro El Galpón, Sala Zitarrosa, Sala Verdi, Hugo Balzo, etc. 

Since 2012, he has been in charge of coordinating the Puppet Theater Workshop offered by Bienestar Universitario (SCBU) at the University of the Republic of Uruguay (UDELAR) aimed at teachers, students, officials and university graduates, where it continues to this day. . 

Graduate in Physical Education from the Higher Institute of Physical Education (ISEF) of the University of the Republic (UDELAR) and current student of the Master's Degree in Education at the ORT University, Uruguay.
